More halo than hat, the five glowing rings of Jones and Wyn Evans’ piece orbit around a central head-band, in an oblique nod to the five Olympic rings. Everyone may experience ‘wearing’ this Celestial Bonnet, hovering above their head. Many tiny, super bright LEDs leave a glowing after-image even in a daylit room, eclipsing the thin form of their support to appear as lines of pure light, suggesting a constellation, an atomic diagram, or even the lingering trace of a hand-held sparkler in the night. Wyn Evans has often used light, from neon to fireworks, in his conceptual practice. Here the medium follows the fluid lines of one of Jones’ sketches.
